Cavity Barriers provide a quick and effective solution to stopping the spread of fire and are often used in concealed spaces – including cavity walls and ceiling voids.
How do they work?
Cavity Barriers are a form of fire protection designed for timber, cladding and masonry cavity walls. A strip of stone wool is inserted into the wall cavity, forming a barrier that can provide between either 30, 60, 90 or 120 minute intervals of extra fire protection compared to a wall with no cavity barrier installed. In the event of a fire, the barriers restrict the movement of smoke, hot gases and fire within a building – ultimately, saving lives.
